NOAA Issue Date: 1/6/2026 03:21:00 AM What Heavy snow expected above 2000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 6 inches at elevations between 2000 and 3000 feet, including portions of highway 138 east of Steamboat. Also, 6 to 14 inches at elevations above 3000 feet, including the back country. Winds gusting as high as 35 MPH over high and exposed terrain. Where Eastern Douglas county foothills. This includes portions of highway 138 and Toketee Falls. When From 1 PM Wednesday to 10 AM PST Thursday. Impacts Travel may be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Additional details Light snow is expected in the back country from this evening into early Wednesday morning. After a break on Wednesday morning, moderate to heavy snow is expected Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. Precautionary/preparedness actions... NOAA Issue Date: 1/6/2026 01:08:00 AM What Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between two and four feet. Winds could gust as high as 45 MPH. Where South Washington Cascades and the northern and central Cascades of Oregon. When From 4 AM early this morning to 4 PM PST Thursday. Impacts Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Additional details For the south Washington Cascades, the heaviest snow will be Tuesday morning and afternoon, as well as Wednesday morning and afternoon. For the northern and central Oregon Cascades, the heaviest snow will be Tuesday afternoon and evening, as well as Wednesday afternoon and evening. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Consider postponing travel until weather conditions improve. If you must travel, be sure to slow down and allow extra time. If your car becomes trapped in deep snow, be sure to keep your car off to stay safe from potential carbon monoxide poisoning. If you are using a generator, be sure to keep it outdoors and away from windows and vents. Be aware that walking surfaces may be slick. Walk with extra care. Backcountry recreation is not advised.

Additional details Heaviest snow expected Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded. Do not touch downed lines and report any Power outages to your electric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadways and the possibility of downed trees and Power lines.
